So you bought a bunch of Prima Wood Icons from the Flying Unicorn Store! So did I! They're so pretty, and they come in so many different shapes and sizes. You can paint them, stain them, distress them, spray them with your mists, etc. The possibilities are endless! You've used them on a several projects, and now they're gone. But you still have the little wood containers they came in. What are you going to do with those?
Well, let me help you!!!
I thought I would share what the containers look like, just in case you're one of the few people who haven't seen these before, or bought tons of them!!!! Eh, that might have been just me! When I bought them, I opened all the packages, and dumped them in a little bin, but I did save the containers. Waiting for an idea......and it came! Here's one way you could re-purpose them......
I took 3 containers (1 large and 2 smaller ones) and glued them together to form a zig-zag. Then it was time to play!!! I sprayed them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Flat Fabios and Starburst Sprays. Then added bits of scrap papers, and vintage book pages to the backs of each square. Some of the papers were stamped with Pink Paislee's Nantucket stamps and Stazon Ink, before adhering. I used a square punch for the scraps....so that meant minimal cutting, and it also leaves a shadow behind each piece.
Now to get creative! I went through my stash, and pulled out laces, trims, sea shells, charms, Flying Unicorn Metal Adornments, Tim Holtz Ideaology pieces, Prima embellies, chippies, resins, flowers, jewels, beads, buttons, and anything else that I thought was fitting. Some of the pieces, were left as is, and others were sprayed, inked and distressed. I've been hoarding some of these pieces, so it was definitely time to use them up!
I glued my bits and pieces, inside, outside and around the edges. I also added a few items to the top of my 'shadowbox'.
I love how the Creative Embellishment Flourish came out!!! I didn't overfill my little 'squares' as I wanted them to stand on their own. Besides, I have a tendency to overdo the embellies, and this time, I wanted my piece to be a bit cleaner. Okay, well this is as 'clean' as it gets with me!
Look, I even used some of the flower wood icons -- bottom left!! One of my fave parts has to be the Prima lightbulb and pipe....brilliant, if I do say so myself!! LOL I had a blast, putting this little shadowbox together. And I will definitely make more!!
So go ahead, pull out your tiny containers, any small containers, glue them together, and start playing!
