Again, no closeups.....sorry!! This layout, started out much different than it is. The mixed media paper under my photo, is where it all began! I had taken one of the 49th & Market papers, added a ton of mixed media, and was planning on using it for my background, but it just didn't look right. So change of plans......
For the mixed media paper, I started by rubbing on some Distress Inks in Gathered Twigs, Ground Espresso and Rusty Hinge. Next, I misted with water, and wiped off with a paper towel. I then used the stencil, and sprayed with the Tea Stain Color Bloom. Then I took out the Ground Espresso re-inker, placed some on my mat, and then splattered it on with a brush. Once the ink was dry, I stamped with Andy Skinner Industrial Stamp and Sienna Ink.
As I mentioned, it just didn't look right under my photo, so I decided to tear the paper into strips, and then glue them down where I was planning on having my pic, as well as at the top corner. I matted my pic on some blue-gray cardstock. I then pulled out the Prima papers, chose the ones that had more red, and started adhering under my pic, adding more and more layers. Once I was happy with the matting, I glued the whole thing down on top of the mixed media strips.
Using the leftover espresso ink, I dipped the edges of the darker flowers into it. I chose to remove one of the flower centers, and replace it with a button from the kit. I wanted to add more blue, so I used Martha Stewart's Arabesque Flower punch and more of the blue-gray cardstock. I layered them under my flowers, and then added a couple of the Prima stickers. Still, it needed something else, So I pulled out the Prima Stitches Stamp and Stormy Sky Distress Ink. I just went around the edges with it. And just for fun, and to remember the date, I pulled out a roller date stamp, and added 'May 25, 2016' here and there on my background. As a final touch, I went around the edges with Ground Espresso Ink.
