Today I have a card to share with you....it was made for the September Challenge at I Am Roses. This month the challenge was to make a circle card, and the theme is Halloween.
Well...let me tell you....a circle card? That was definitely a challenge!!! I actually made a prototype....didn't like it, tore it apart, started over, didn't like that one either, so I put it aside. Glad I did....cause I finally got a better idea...and then I was off!
Here it is flat....
I knew that I wanted it to be a pumpkin, so I went searching for a template, and found one at Coloring Pages. Originally, the template I used had leaves along the bottom....and that was the problem. So I decided to change it up by removing those leaves.
For the card base, I used cardstock from SEI in yellow-orange. The top layers of the pumpkin were made with Glitz Vintage Blue Motif...reverse side. I cut each piece separately, inked the edges with DI in Scattered Straw, and then used my McGill Paper Tools to round out each shape. Then each piece was pop dotted onto the base.
The little spiders, were purchased at Walmart a couple of years ago, and were purple rings. I colored them with a Sharpie, and added black flocking (Doodlebug) to the bodies.
In order to use the black doily (Walmart), without having too much of the base showing, I trimmed it into a circle shape. Once that was done, I adhered my doily, and one Spellbinders Scalloped Circle piece (Glitz). I then stamped my sentiment (Martha Stewart), and a few spider webs (Tim Holtz), with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Next I added a few brads to hold my card in an open position. A cute little spider in the bottom right hand corner, finishes off the inside.
Of course I added my fave flowers....Gardenias, misted with LSG's Midnight Rendezvous Raven, and Cherry Blossoms, misted with LSG's Glory of the Seas Gold. I also added a few Black Skeleton Leaves, as well as lace leaves cut with Tim's Tattered Leaves Die. The stamens were also colored with Glory of the Seas Gold. I added a few curly-cue wires (stash) and some cheesecloth, misted with the Midnight Rendezvous Raven. The tiny pumpkin is from Jolees. The dark green leaves, are from my stash....need to order more leaves!!
So that's my project for this month. Hope you enjoy!! Oh....don't forget, I have another RAK going on....scroll down to the next post, and follow directions for entering...you have til October 15th!
