Hi everyone!! I'm so excited....I can't believe it.....I made the POSH DT!!! Whoo hoo!!! Got my first DT blinkie!! I am super stoked and can't wait to start creating for POSH!! In the left sidebar, you'll find the blogs of all the POSH DT's...check them out!!! And if you read Blog Treasures, you remember Nini's blog....she is the founder of POSH!!
Okay, I really need to get my feet back on the ground!! So I'm going to post one of the LO's that I submitted to POSH with my app for their DT call. That was a mouthful!! Here we go.....
Remember the Artistic Papers by Donna Salazar, that I've been telling you about? Well, here it is!! Gorgeous cream embossed cardstock, with black print on the edge!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this paper!!! I bought one of each at my LSS!! They are so beautiful (my pics don't do any justice), that I'll be very surprised if she still has any in stock!!!
I wanted to add a touch of color to the paper (to match the flowers), so I dug out my TH Distress Inks, stamped them on my craft mat, spritzed each color with water, and then used a small round paintbrush to color the leaves, grapes, bow and tag!! Soooooo easy!! Love the look...check it out
I used Peeled Paint, Weathered Wood, Broken China, Vintage Photo, & Antique Linen. I also added these inks to the edges of my frame, flowers and leaves. The cardstock is so heavy, that even my 'coloring' (which was very wet!) didn't distort the paper!! Have I said that I LOVE this paper!!!
For the frame, I used an inner pack from Prima and traced on K&Co paper. Then inked the edges, and added TH brads. At the top of the page, I used Sticko "Always Remember To...." stickers. Alphas are naked chipboard from Basic Grey (thank you Cindy -- Valentine Exchange at PIT!!), and inked with TH Black Soot. Here's a closeup of the flowers....
I cut a strip of black checked paper from K&Co, & punched the edge with 'Fleur De Lys' from Fiskars. Then I layered a piece of ribbon from Michaels over the left edge. I loosely formed a semi-circle with Prima's gorgeous velvet ribbon and intertwined with K&Co lace. I made my roses, from K&Co paper, a la Tim Holtz, and added leaves cut on Cricut's Plantin Schoolbook cart. I also used some of the 'petals' to make smaller blossoms and buds. I edged each leaf & flower with TH Distress Inks. Rubon (above pic) is from Daisy D's. Then, I added TH metal flowers & brads as well as 2 word sticks that say "Live" & "Life".
That's my Dad, and I want him to "always remember to..... live life". My thoughts are that if you can live life, then you can 'be' whatever it is that you want to be, at any age!!! I wish that he would have felt that way about 30 years ago...he thought he was to old then!! No matter, I still love him dearly!! And I want him to enjoy the rest of his life!!
I have made several LOs with these gorgeous flowers, and I've been asked to do a tutorial on these....not sure that I should or not...seeing as I got the original tut on Tim's blog. And yes, mine are slightly different...you know I gotta put my own spin on things; plus, there's the leaves!! LOL!! I'd like your opinion, should I or shouldn't I?
I saw on another PIT member's blog that she actually has links on her sidebar to tutorials that were made by other bloggers. I'm thinking I might do that.....since I use a lot of tips & techniques from other bloggers in my scrapping. I'll have to ponder that one.
